Smart Growth Isn’t Always About Great Placemaking, and It Should Be

The smart growth agenda has grown somewhat formulaic, and clinical. While the benefits of reducing suburban sprawl through a smart growth agenda are obvious, in some ways, the way we approach those benefits is the problem. As a community, we’re resting on the laurels of measurable outcomes. More thought should be given to the quality of smart growth development, and not the quantity.
