A new mixed-use condominium development opening in Los Angeles in 2019 will include a Hyatt hotel, open-air retail—and a focus on fitness.
Oceanwide Plaza’s expansive amenity spaces will include a private, 2-acre park on the eighth floor. Celebrity trainer and author Harley Pasternak has signed on to curate the wellness portion of the project.
The community marks Pasternak’s first collaboration with a luxury residential development in downtown Los Angeles, where he’s not only designing the spaces but also fostering a wellness lifestyle for owners.
“Harley is reimagining condominium fitness programs at Oceanwide Plaza, and through his vision and expertise, we’re bringing the latest programs from world-class gyms into the amenities for our residents,” said John Pallante, senior director at The Mark Co., which is handling the project’s sales and marketing, in a statement. “For example, we currently have two yoga rooms in the amenity spaces. With Harley on board, we’re looking to push the programming for these two spaces. We’re exploring recovery tools, temperature-controlled fitness, nutritional programming—nothing is out of the question.”
Located in the South Park neighborhood, Oceanwide Plaza will comprise three towers: the 340-unit Residences at Oceanwide Plaza condominiums; the 184-room Park Hyatt Los Angeles hotel, topped by the 164-unit hotel-serviced Park Hyatt Los Angeles Residences; and the 166,000-square-foot retail space.
“As a Los Angeles local, this partnership presented the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to participate in reshaping the meaning of wellness for the residents living at Oceanwide Plaza,” said Pasternak, in the statement. “I’m excited to have an active part in bringing these unique amenity spaces to life, and to curate and program such incredible spaces.”
