Summer has barely started, but it feels like it’s flying by. It probably doesn’t help that I’m already looking ahead to fall, helping to plan our final two issues of the year as well as the annual MFE Conference, which will take place Sept. 26 to 28 in Dallas. I can’t help being excited about this must-attend event for the multifamily industry. Here are my top reasons for why you should join me at this conference.
1. New Location: Goodbye Las Vegas, and hello Dallas. After many years of holding the annual event in Sin City, we decided it was time for a change. And I don’t think we could have asked for a better city. Dallas is one of the hottest multifamily markets in the nation, with strong job and population growth and a surge in supply. Plus, some top-notch multifamily companies and their executives are based in the area and ready to lend their industry expertise.
2. Networking: While I do enjoy my work-from-home setup, which I have been doing for almost two decades, it’s so nice to be able to connect in person with colleagues over cocktails in the exhibit hall. With approximately 700 executives in attendance, it’s a great opportunity to expand your network—from property managers, architects, and investors to owners and developers—and learn about new products and services as well.
3. Forward-Looking Content: The industry has been shrouded in economic uncertainty this year, and there’s still talk of a mild recession in 2023’s second half. The timing of the event will give attendees key insights into the fourth quarter as well as the start of 2024. You won’t want to miss hearing from my colleague, Zonda chief economist Ali Wolf, on the state of the U.S. economy and the outlook for housing. Ryan Davis, CEO of Dallas-based Witten Advisors, will take the discussion one step further, narrowing in on what’s next for the multifamily market. And our annual executive panel will discuss how they are navigating today’s market.
4. Trend Talks: Our agenda also hits on a lot of the industry’s hottest issues. If you’re like me and trying to wrap your head around automation and AI strategies, then you’ll want to hear from keynote presenter Cassie Kozyrkov, chief decision scientist at Google. Our top-notch speakers also will be tackling multifamily branding, the state of the capital markets, centralization, demographics, and proptech.
5. Celebrating: I spend a lot of time throughout the year working on our annual MFE Awards program. It’s always a privilege to honor the industry’s leaders for the innovative housing that they create and to hear from our inspiring top executive winners.
