Q: What was your best multifamily construction moment?

A: Last summer, we contracted to do some military housing at Fort Sill in Oklahoma for Place Properties. [With] Place, there is always direct involvement in decision making among all the principals, and we are both financially strong enough to broaden our horizons. It’s great to work with them, but at Fort Sill in particular, my patriotic sense comes out a little. New military housing puts a breath of fresh air into base communities. If we want to help attract top young men and women to serve our country, then, by all means, they deserve great facilities.

Q: What is your New Year’s resolution?

A: I have a VP of operations who has helped me organizationally achieve many things that I could not. As a company, I want to continue to give attention to each employee. If they want to set goals and expand their horizons, we want to provide them with the opportunity. That takes a lot of time. But I have seen how productive empowered people can be. It is amazing.
