The San Remo is one of the world’s greatest residential buildings. Occupying an entire block of Central Park West, the iconic structure embodies a quality that would be virtually impossible to replicate today. There’s nothing like sitting in Central Park on a fall day looking through the trees at the elegant old San Remo. One can only imagine the residents inside their warm apartments looking right back at you. Construction started just weeks before the Great Depression. The building survives as a hero of that time, going on to house such notables as Rita Hayworth, Steve Jobs, Steven Spielberg, and Jack Dempsey.
