Post Brothers, a vertically integrated, Philadelphia-based luxury real estate firm, has made its first move into New Jersey and the New York City metropolitan market with the start of pre-leasing at The Duchess, a 320-unit apartment complex on the western bank of the Hudson River in North Bergen, N.J.
The development, designed by Vijay Kale Architects, offers a mix of studio and one-, two-, and three- bedroom apartments across three residential towers, all with sweeping views of Manhattan and the surrounding Hudson River. Each unit features floor-to-ceiling, high-efficiency windows; European oak solid hardwood flooring; recessed LED lighting; water-efficient washers and dryers; and extra-large closets. Kitchens feature quartz countertops, induction cooktops, high-end dishwashers and fixtures, and a French-door refrigerator.
âWe like to call the residences at The Duchess âgrown-up homesâ because the entire development is designed to meet the needs of those who rent by choice and therefore demand the type of select amenities that would normally only be found at the most upscale of condominium buildings,â said Michael Pestronk, CEO and co-founder of Post Brothers, in a statement.
âIt starts with being able to offer one of the most sought-after panoramic views in the world, but itâs The Duchessâ bespoke details and amenities that make it unlike any residential building thatâs ever been built in New Jersey.â

The Duchess also marks the first New Jersey project for celebrity interior designer Paris Forino, with whom Post Brothers has collaborated on the project. Forino, known for her elegant and contemporary design aesthetics, has provided The Duchess with four distinct amenity and community spaces.
The Water Terrace includes a heated lounge pool and hot tub, cabana beds, direct-sun chaises, lounging pods, and a New York City skyline overlook. The Veranda features a yoga deck, sandbox, fire pit lounge, seating, and café tables.

The Rooftop is anchored by the âCity View Terrace,” as well as residentsâ private terraces. The space includes open-air lounges, private cabanas, co-working and office space, a gaming room, a kidsâ playroom and art studio, and an indoor/outdoor salon with a piano bar, wine lounge, and kitchen. The Wellness Center offers a state-of-the-art fitness center, instructor-led group fitness sessions, a spa with sauna and steam rooms, massage rooms, and a juice bar.
âParis has created spaces that feel both classic and contemporary, evoking a feeling of comfort while satisfying a desire for chicness and originality,â Pestronk added.
The property will also provide shuttle service to the NY Waterway ferry for New York City commuters and travelers, as well as nearby access to NJ Transit bus route 158.
