The first ground-up building and residential tower, The Mitchell, has opened in the $5 billion Centennial Yards mixed-use community in downtown Atlanta.

The tower, which was named to reflect the historic significance of Atlanta’s Mitchell Street corridor, overlooks the emerging Entertainment District at Centennial Yards and is located near Mercedes-Benz Stadium, State Farm Arena, and four MARTA stations.

CIM Group, a community-focused real estate and infrastructure owner, operator, lender, and developer, is behind the 50-acre mixed-use community, creating Centennial Yards Co. to act as the owner and master developer.

“Opening The Mitchell, the first residential tower at Centennial Yards, is a significant step in transforming downtown Atlanta into a thriving neighborhood,” said Brian McGowan, president of Centennial Yards Co. “This community will bring new energy and life to downtown, offering a lifestyle that puts residents at the center of everything Atlanta has to offer.”

The 19-story luxury apartment building comprises 304 units, ranging from studios to three-bedroom floor plans. The amenity package features a community pool with views of the downtown skyline, a fitness center with a barre studio, coworking space with office suites, outdoor gathering areas, and a dedicated pet area and spa.

Approximately 16,000 square feet on the ground floor will house retail and restaurant space. Kha Thai Isan, a Thai tapas concept, will occupy nearly 5,000 square feet, while additional operators will be announced in the coming months.

The grand opening of The Mitchell marks a milestone in the massive city center redevelopment, which will encompass several new city blocks with 8 million square feet of commercial and residential space. Plans call for 4 million square feet of retail, entertainment, office, and hotel space as well as 2,000 new residences and interactive public gathering spaces.

The Mitchell is the second residential development to open in the community. It joins The Lofts at Centennial Yards South, with 162 units above a Georgia-based brewery. The 292-key Hotel Phoenix is set for completion later this year, while Cosm’s immersive sporting experience is slated for 2026 and 5,300-seat Live Nation venue is expected in 2027.

“The Mitchell residential tower is a reflection of our commitment to creating places that serve and strengthen the community,” added Shaul Kuba, co-founder and principal of CIM Group. “At Centennial Yards, we are proud to help shape a neighborhood that celebrates local culture, connects people through public spaces, and supports the everyday lives of Atlantans.”
