In the 1990s, a local Dallas developer commissioned Ron Wommack to prepare designs for the renovation of a group of 1950s- and 1960s-era apartments. Parkwood 5 was one of the first to be built. Some of the units’ original plumbing fixtures and steel pipes were acquired from a salvage yard to create the building’s signature columned walkways. Most impressive is that Wommack had the artistic skills to bring an architecturally significant renovation to what would have been a basic remodel. His work remains a catalyst for the redevelopment of the Uptown neighborhood in Dallas.
