Shea Properties, based in Aliso Viejo, California, remains bullish on the Seattle multifamily market. The firm has opened a 550-unit transit-oriented community in Shoreline, Washington—its fourth community in its growing greater Seattle area portfolio.
Verdant Apartments, named for the abundance of trees in Shoreline, offers suburban living with easy access to Seattle’s downtown and tech hub. It is steps away from a light-rail station and close to Interstate 5 and state Route 99. It also has several features for commuters, such as electric vehicle charging stations, the Envoy car-sharing program, and secure bike storage.
“Verdant was thoughtfully designed as a transit-oriented development giving residents the perfect blend of modern living and convenient commuting,” said Willis Chin, senior vice president of development and acquisitions. “We’ve worked to create a connected lifestyle for our residents where they are nearby quick transit options while also being within steps of vibrant outdoor spaces and modern amenities.”
The development comprises a range of layouts from studios to three-bedrooms with one- or two-bathrooms. Unit interiors feature quartz countertops, wood-style flooring, energy-efficient stainless steel appliances, and washers and dryers.

Verdant, which is LEED Platinum certified, also has a wealth of amenities indoors and outdoors. Indoors, residents can utilize dedicated shared and private coworking spaces, a multilevel club room, and a TV viewing lounge with a full kitchen and billiards. Wellness amenities include a fitness center with cardio, weight, and cross-training zones; a Peloton room; and a yoga studio. Outdoors, central courtyards have seating, grilling stations, fire pits, and lawn games, while a seventh-floor deck has bar seating and a large-screen TV. In addition, pet owners have access to a pet lounge with spa features and a dog run.
Partners on the development include architect Ankrom Moisan, general contractor Exxel Pacific, civil engineer KPFF, landscape architect Berger, and interior designer uppercase.
Verdant joins three other Shea communities: the 476-unit Canopy in Shoreline, the 203-unit EdgePoint in North Seattle, and the 206-unit Leeward in Seattle.
“This project represented a significant step in expanding Shea’s long-term commitment to the Seattle region,” added Chin. “We are proud to contribute to the area’s growth, and we remain open to exploring future development opportunities that align with our vision and values.”
