Appliances and lighting fixtures top the next-generation products being used the most in multifamily construction, according to a recent survey of industry professionals.

Multifamily builders, developers, and architects weighed in on what next-gen products they’re currently installing or considering installing as part of a survey conducted by The Farnsworth Group, our data partner on the 2017 MFE Concept Community, examining usage and perceptions regarding next-gen building performance.

For appliances, 63 of the 159 total respondents said they’re installing appliances with newer technologies. Of those, 36.5% reported installing energy-efficient appliances, while 26.3% said they’re considering adding this amenity.

For lighting fixtures, 57 respondents reported using lighting fixtures with newer technologies. Of those, 56.1% said they’re installing LED lights, which last longer and use less energy than conventional bulbs, and 79.2% are mulling LED improvements.
