Project of the Month
Style Points Lofts 590, Arlington, Va. Archstone-Smith racked up the style points when it turned to fashion maven and “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” Carson Kressley to open Lofts 590 in Arlington, Va.’s Crystal City neighborhood in June.
Dressed in a grey seersucker suit, pink shirt, and soft green tie with tiny seahorses, Kressley flirted with residents and mugged for photos as he welcomed party-goers to the new property. “I feel like Evita,” he announced, as he stood on the stairs overlooking the star-struck group in the two-level apartment and then began to sing. “Don’t cry for me, Crystal City….”
Of course, the Bravo cable television star wasn’t the only stylish one at the opening. Lofts 590, a four-story building with 212 units, features stained concrete floors, sleek kitchens, and closets big enough to contain even Kressley’s wardrobe. Common areas also offer uncommon flair–hallways covered with striped carpeting lead to purple apartment entry doors. As for rents, they start at $2,100 for trend-setting would-be residents.
